OUR HISTORY

    In 1978, Internet, personal computers and cell phones were non-existent when I graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio with a business degree in economics eager to begin my professional life.  Moving to Florida with a job as a financial analyst for General Development and an enrolled student in the night program at the University of Miami Law School, I began my Florida legal career. During my third year of law school I was hired by Kent Insurance Company as a full-time legal research clerk and investigator, receiving my first exposure to personal injury litigation from the insurance company’s perspective.  On the day I was sworn into the Florida Bar in 1981, I tried my very first jury trial as house counsel for Kent Insurance Company and remained employed by the carrier for over two years as staff trial litigator.  Upon leaving the insurance company, I opened my own law firm, and subsequently merged with Joe Swiderski, forming Swiderski & Rich, P.A. in 1985.  In 1990 our law firm purchased a building in Margate, Florida and continued practicing personal injury and insurance litigation.  Due to personal health issues my very close friend and law partner retired, and I continued to practice law as David L. Rich, P.A. My law firm now consists of three talented attorneys, Tamara Klopenstein, Scott C. Frankel and Ilene Brooks, of counsel, as well as my long term hard-working dedicated staff, Janet, Barbara, Jan,  Lorraine, Heather and Annie.

    As of the writing of this History in 2018, I have been practicing law for thirty-seven (37) years and, still, coming to the office feels like the very first day.  When you love what you do, what you do is not a job — but your reason for enjoyment of your life. I measure my success on both the compensation I obtain for my clients, and the way I can meaningfully change their lives for the better.  Over the years the people that come to my office for help as clients have become my friends, which is the reason my law firm is so successful.  I now look to the future as I did in 1978, even with so much that has changed, and still have the same desire to help my friends, clients, and you, when needed the most — when injured by someone’s negligence or carelessness that drastically changes, in seconds, your life and the life of your family. My law office fights insurance companies, adjusters, and defense attorneys to maximize the compensation to provide you the tools of recovery.

    Whether surfing the Internet, watching TV, or driving by a bus bench/billboard, you will find so many attorneys that advertise to entice injured victims with outlandish statements of settlement amounts. Every claim is individually evaluated, and the best manner to find an attorney is a referral by family, close friend, or employer.  For over 37 years our law firm has represented thousands of people and, hopefully for you, one of my thousands of clients/friends will direct YOU to our office in your time of need. When I revise this History in another fifteen (15) years I hope to include you in my thoughts.  But for now, be safe and happy.
